42m2

Ongoing project where I examine, like an archeologist, the history and spatial transformation of the apartment I grew up in. 42,1 m2 that became 45,8 m2, my parents, my sister and I, 17 years of my life + multiple reencounters.

I scratch beyond the layers of stories inscribed in the apartment and bring to light its duality as both a place of confinement and a miniature of the vast world. I trace its objects, furniture, walls, doors, windows, and read in them the history of the Moldovan transition from a post-soviet country to a pro-european one, from scarcity to having enough, from drama and violence to dissociation. It is a deeply autobiographical work that I believe may give a home to so many who experienced strong limitations but kept their dreams somewhere inside.

Currently the project is taking the shape of a book, to be extended to spatial installations and further artistic manifestations over time.
